The over 50s Enterprise programme “Change, Challenge & Opportunity” is targeted for individuals over fifty who are interested in setting up a business or are in the early 18 month stage of running a new business.

The 2 day residential course for people over 50 will afford participants sufficient time to consider “Change, Challenge & Opportunity” in their lives and that of their dependents and their friends around them.

The residential consists of two full days/one overnight session to allow the participants space and time to work on their new businesses and receive training in a facilitated round table format that would be appropriate to the potential entrepreneurs in this age group.


Training Aim:
The aim of this interactive 2 Day workshop is to give participants an insight into the skills, knowledge and competencies required to start, research and develop a business in Ireland today.

•To understand how to assess the feasibility of their business idea
•To gain the skills to start and complete primary and secondary market research for their selected business idea
•To develop an action based marketing plan for their business
•To acquire the knowledge to complete 1 – 3yr sales and expenditure projections
•To develop practical skills for achieving their projected sales targets
•To understand how to manage cash flow in their business
•To appreciate the range of financial and non-financial supports available to start up businesses in Ireland

Aimed at: Those who are considering starting a new business or those who have been in business for less than eighteen months.
Course Objective: To provide those who are considering starting a business or those who have recently set up their own business with the necessary knowledge and tools.
Topics to be covered include market research, legal issues, marketing, sales, book-keeping & taxation, people management, e-business, best practices and business planning. On completion of the course participants will have produced their own business plan.

Accelerate Programme (6 months - €250 per person) Wednesday 18th

This is a six month Management Development Programme aimed at owner/managers of small businesses in the Meath area, that have been established for at least 18 months. It aims to address the business challenges that may be hindering the growth of the business.

As a participant on the programme, you will gain a greater understanding of:
- Why you are in business and where your business is going
- Marketing your business
- The importance of continuous improvement
- Developing yourself and your entrepreneurial capabilities
- Sales and Selling Techniques
- Managing Finances
- Developing your business needs

What is involved?
The programme will be delivered over a 6 month timeframe and will comprise of 6 group workshops and 6 individual mentor consultations.

This one day workshop is designed for anyone who has a new idea or invention that they would like to protect prior to commercialising it. It deals with all forms of Intellectual Property Rights, including Petents, Trade Marks, Designs and Copyright.
The workshop will also deal with the application process involved in obtaining the IP protection.

Basic Book-Keeping & Taxation Course (1 morning per week for 8 weeks - €100 per person) Friday 20th

The course will provide participants with an understanding of the bookkeeping cycle and the way to keep accounts. Participants will acquire the knowledge and skills to record transactions in a manual accounts system and draw up daybooks. Participants will also be able to complete all necessary tax returns for their business.
